This year’s international sales meeting attracted a new record number of participants and was held in the Palatinate town of Edenkoben, which is known for its picturesque vineyards and its reputation as a venue for legendary rock concerts. Part of the meeting took place in the open air at the nearby Rietburg. From there the attendees had a magnificent view to Frankfurt and over the Palatinate vineyards to France. This rounded off a successful sales event with motivated participants from near and far.

Review, insights, outlook with diverse presentations

We were particularly pleased with the many participants from the Asian region, which underlines the increasing importance of the APAC market for the image processing industry. Gradually, the local distributor network has been expanded in recent years. In view of increasing international business, more participants came from abroad this time. The increase in our sales team also takes account of the rising growth rates.

A brief review of the past and current year made it clear to the guests: these were particularly eventful times with the 20th anniversary celebrations, innovation awards, ISO re-certification and organization of the International Vision Standards Meeting (IVSM) together with the VDMA in Frankfurt along with the imminent move to the company’s own premises in Mannheim. A great enrichment for the meeting were the presentations on successful image processing projects of Iridia Labs in the field of melt pool monitoring for additive manufacturing and of Infaimon on the 3D inspection of irregularly shaped metal parts, solved with Silicon Software products.

The topic of Deep Learning on FPGAs with VisualApplets attracted the greatest attention. Using the live demonstrator on display, the participants were able to get a direct impression of this, on which a high-speed application for surface inspection was running. Users can load and execute neural networks in VisualApplets in order to use Deep Learning successfully in inline inspection, for example. With our new and expanded solutions we keep pace with the rapid technological change in the image processing industry.
